Friday FIVE

1. Penelope. This was a really cute movie. Scott complained rather loudly when it arrived in the mail from netflix, but even he agreed it was good. Great moral about accepting everyone no matter what they look like on the outside - its inside that really counts. A clean, feel good movie.

2. Free Bakery Cookie (for the kids, of course!). This is a wonderful bribery tool when kids are freaking out at the grocery store. It ends hitting, pushing, whining, sassing, and just plain meltdowns. We always make the bakery the very last stop on our list. Shame on stores who don't do this!

3. Target clothing dept. Why am I always drawn to the clothing section at Target? And I always find cute items for a great price - sometimes even on clearance for next to nothing. So convenient to shop for toothpaste, cereal and stylish clothes at the same place. Love the kids clothes too!

4. Dried blueberries. I especially love these spinkled on kashi cereal with yogurt. But I can eat them out of the bag like candy too. So yummy and so good for you. Costco's Kirkland brand are my fav.

5. Blanket/Quilts. Even in the summer I love to curl up with a warm soft blanket. We have many blankets with various thickness, weights, material, etc... so you can always find one to suit just how you are feeling. And many are handmade by various people we love and mean a lot to me.

Friday FIVE

In honor of Friday the 13th, these are my 5 favorite scary/thriller movies...

  1. The Sixth Sense - I loved that this movie completely tricked me up to the end. I had no idea the twist that was coming and it made you want to watch it again just to catch all the clues. I love it when a movie can completely pull the wool over my eyes.

  2. The Shining - Stephen King is the king of horror. Although this movie was pretty tame as far as Stephen goes, it is a classic horror movie and I have watched it many times. Red rum! Two others by King that are good: Carrie and Salem's Lot.

  3. What Lies Beneath - it doesn't end really scary, but there are some super spine-tingling moment of anticipation. I watched several scenes with my blanket up to my nose.

  4. Kiss the Girls - I love suspense and crime solving movies. This one is rated R (sorry, maybe Clean Flicks would have an edited copy), but I saw it more than 10 years ago. I really like Morgan Freeman - and he is so good in this role. The second movie in this series (also with Freeman) is good too: Along Came A Spider.

  5. An a few from my youth... Something Wicked This Way Comes, Poltergiest and Lost Boys (I think I liked the music in this one more than the actual movie though).

Oops, it looks like my list is longer than 5 this week. Oh well, it's my blog - deal with it.

Friday FIVE

1. Walking with my ipod. Technology is an amazing thing. Remember when we used to make tapes of our favorite songs - we'd wait by the radio, hoping that ONE song would come on. I can remember getting so mad when the DJ would start talking before the song was over - didn't he know I was recording??? Now my ipod can hold whatever song I can think of and is catagorized according to my mood. We've come a long way.

2. Kids out of school. No more argueing over getting homework done, getting them to bed on-time, making sure they have money in their lunch accounts, fretting over grades, dragging them out of bed, missing the bus, driving them to school in my pajamas (with 2 sleepy little girls in tow). Need I say more?

3. Planting summer flowers. I get weak in the knees when I go to the nursery. I love selecting plants and thinking about where I will put them I love planting them and watching them take hold and hopefully grow big. The one drawback: weeding - hate that.

4. Laughing Cow Cheese. Not only is it low calorie - but it is so good! I love speading it on either pretzel chips or low fat triscuits. Pair it with some fruit and it's a healthy diet-friendly snack!!!

5. P.S. I Love You. Loved it - I am buying this movie. Hilary Swank isn't my favorite actress, but she is really good in this one and her co-stars are wonderful. It's funny, it's sad, it's romantic. And yes, it's a chick-flick, but Scott loved it too.

Friday FIVE

1. Tulips - spring, sun, flowers, COLOR! I just wish it would stick around for more than a day at a time before turning back into winter. Come on!!!

2. Hershey's 100 Calorie snacksters - I am on my diet and can STILL get my chocolate fix!!!

3. This scripture: "Regarding trials, including of our faith and patience, there are no exemtions - only variations." Mosiah 23:21

4. My flat iron. Since I got my hair cut last week, I am wearing it straight again and I really like this iron - it works really well and is 1/3 of the cost of a chi. Infinity by Conair.

5. New on DVD... JUNO - really liked this movie, it had some hilarious lines and sayings. And it was positive towards adoption, which is refreshing.

Friday FIVE

I'm going to start a new weekly thing:
Every Friday I pick FIVE things that I love right now.

1. Fuze - these yummy drinks are actually good for you too!

2. my Dyson vacuum cleaner - it is really powerful and I use it almost daily with my messy brood.
3. this cute Gymboree outfit I just bought Audrey - it has little pansies all over it. I can't wait till it is warm enough for her to wear it. 4. Enchanted - why do I love this movie so much? I'm stuck on these songs all the time and it drives me nuts! It's so fun to watch with Hallie though! 5. Victoria's Secret LOVE SPELL body spray. I love this scent and it makes me happy. I have the body wash too. It's just heavenly.

Movie Review

Today I watched a really great movie, "The Pursuit of Happyness". I know, it's been out for awhile, but I'm a DVD addict, NOT a cinema freak. Anyway, I loved the movie and the messages it reminded me of (everyone needs to remember these from time to time):

  1. No matter what, you should always believe in yourself.

  2. Even when the odds are completely stacked against you, don't give up your dreams/goals.

  3. Never let anyone tell you that you "can't" do something.

  4. Everyone deserves a chance.

What a great uplifting movie (except for one instance of a four letter word - why do they throw that in there?), I give this one an enthusiastic thumb's up!!!
